A neighbour who listens,
a leader who acts
Vaughn Goettler is prepared to serve full-time as your next Lord Mayor. He brings to Town Hall his business experience, leadership and team-building qualities, and a genuine love for this community.
Rooted in Niagara-on-the-Lake
committed to its future
I come from a modest background. My parents never had the luxury of owning their own home. I worked two jobs to put myself through university, graduating from McMaster with an Honours B.A. and an MBA, as well as a B.Ed., from the University of Toronto.
After graduating, I worked in a series of management positions, often entailing 60-hour plus workweeks, before becoming the CEO of Union Energy (today Reliance Home Comfort). I later arranged a buyout and became an entrepreneur, before successfully selling my own business. Now I serve as Chair of the Palliative Care Board here in Niagara-on-the-Lake.
I am running to be your full-time Lord Mayor because I want to contribute more.
I have the business experience, leadership qualities and people skills to work for you so we protect and enhance the best features for all of the communities that make Niagara-on-the-Lake Canada's Most Beautiful Town.
We need to change the way we do things for all of our Niagara-on-the-Lake communities. The world is changing fast; even the setup of our local government is changing, with a reduced number of Councillors. We need to listen to what residents in all parts of Niagara-on-the-Lake say. Before we make decisions, I will speak to YOU, our residents and neighbours.
We can no longer tolerate unexplained and unpopular decisions being made that affect the way we live and work here. We cannot stop the advance of time in Niagara-on-the-Lake, but we can build and enhance communities, not destroy them.
We have much work to do, together. As I learned in life and in business, we need to keep taxes, and spending and regulation in line.
We need to improve our services and infrastructure; our roads, parks and gardens, education, environmental law, police and fire protection, access to health care, housing and seniors' care and public transportation; making them the best they can be for all of our residents.
We need the ability to welcome tourists and visitors, to the benefit of all of our residents and businesses. And we need to respect and understand the needs of our farmers, growers and our wine industry.
We need intelligent development that enhances all of Niagara-on-the-Lake.
As our Municipal Election campaign unfolds up to Voting Day on October 26, 2026, I'll share with you my ideas for making Niagara-on-the-Lake ever-better. More importantly, I'll listen to your ideas. We may not always agree, but we can learn from each other. It's time for a Lord Mayor to lead a Niagara-on-the-Lake where we trust each other and make open, transparent decisions.
Let's work together.
